I like this quote for a new start. I hope you like it. I don't know if I want you to follow the kissing part, but who am I say anything...you're growing up. Even though I don't like it. I love the girls you are growing up to be (honestly, I was a little worried I wouldn't like you guys from the 9-15 age range but, y'all are really surprising me! I love you guys at this age, you're hilarious and we can talk like normal people would and you're not whiny and annoying!!) and even though I miss you guys being the CUTEST little baby girls, I am loving the relationship that is growing between us not as just cousins, but as friends.
I want to write to say yes, this is the perfect time to be who you want to be, do what you want to do, accomplish what you've always wanted to accomplish.
I do want to say that you need to do what you want, and be who you want, and yes, it's always great to start a new chapter, turn over a new leaf and all those other cliche sayings that come with new beginnings during the new year but I don't want you to only do it during the new year.
You don't have to wait until the new year to be who you want to be. You can do this anytime!! Really, anytime of your life. You just need to do it! Everyone wants to start out the new year with big plans, big resolutions, but the truth is, nobody really succeeds at that (well mostly) and I don't think about resolutions, I think about life changes. It's something you have to make an effort to do and it's going to be something that you learn to adjust to.
For me last year, I was sick and tired of not being happy with myself. I didn't like the way I ate, I didn't like the way I felt, I didn't like the way my body looked. I joined a fitness group with 2 of my friends and we didn't start at the new year. We knew we wanted to do this group at the new year but we planned for our starting date at the end of January.
Well, I was ready to start the group but I was not ready to commit to the life changes that were to come with losing weight and starting a healthy lifestyle. I will say, I was trying but I wasn't fully committed. But eventually, like around May, I finally said "ok!! This is it! Your two friends in this group have kicked butt and they are seeing major results and here you are still at the same weight!! Look what you could have achieved if you would have just committed and focused!" So from that point on I focused and I'm so happy with the way my life is going. I'm not at my goal weight yet, and of course I still want to improve my eating habits and workout routine but overall I'm very happy with my changes in my life.
With that boring story (sorry!) being said, my point is be what you want and don't wait for a silly date!! If you want to do something do it! It's better to have looked back and known what the end result was (even if it was a failure) than to look back and never really know the outcome. If you're not happy with your life or the way things are going then change it! Life is too short to be unhappy and not be what you want to be!
And I know you girls! You guys are amazing!! You're silly, beautiful, funny, smart, driven, enthusiastic (and so much more!!) girls who have grown up with some awesome role models (Bobo, your mothers and your aunts, maybe me :) who's to say, hehe) and you have nothing holding you back from reaching your goals but yourself and don't let that one and only person (you) stop you from getting there!
Here's a good quote from the movie Benjamin Button-
For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
